The rental

A real Christmas tree. We handle everything.

We deliver a living Christmas tree to your door before Christmas. You choose a collection date. On that date, we come back and take the tree away. You do not need to dispose of it.

The tree is a Nordmann Fir. Pot grown, with roots intact. Low needle drop. It holds well indoors for three to four weeks through the festive season.

After we collect, the tree goes back to the nursery. It grows on for another year. Nothing is wasted.

Why rent?

A living tree that goes on living

The tree we rent you is alive. The roots stay in the pot the whole time. After we collect it, the tree goes back to the nursery and grows through the following year. It does not go to landfill. It does not go to the tip.

A real Christmas tree that ends up in landfill has a carbon footprint of about 16 kg CO2e. One that goes back into the ground has a footprint many times lower. With this rental, the tree returns to the nursery. The footprint is as low as it gets.

Good Elf has sold and hired real trees since 2004. Every tree we source comes from a sustainable UK plantation where each harvested tree gets replaced with a new sapling.

Questions

Frequently asked

What does the rental price include?
The price covers the tree, delivery, and collection. You select your delivery date at checkout and your collection date when you order. No extra charges on the day.
When do you deliver?
You choose your delivery date at checkout. We deliver across the UK. London orders use our own team and arrive before 2pm. Everywhere else gets tracked courier delivery, also normally before 2pm.
What tree is it?
A pot grown Nordmann Fir with roots intact. Nordmann Fir has low needle drop and holds its needles far better than Norway Spruce. A well-watered tree in a cool room will barely shed over three to four weeks indoors.
What happens to the tree after collection?
The tree goes back to the nursery. It is a living tree with intact roots, so it grows on through the following year. It does not go to landfill or get chipped.
Do I need to do anything before collection?
Just have the tree accessible on the collection day. Keep it watered up to the day we arrive. Remove your decorations before we come — we collect the tree, not the lights and baubles.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes. We deliver and collect across the UK. Good Elf has provided nationwide Christmas tree delivery since 2004. Call us on 0203 519 9997 if you have any questions about coverage.

Except where stated, Standard Delivery means delivery on the date advertised on the Good Elf home page. Delivery is included in the total price of our products for delivery within the mainland of the UK only. Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands and all other locations will incur an additional delivery cost that will be billed after the order is placed.

If you request delivery to remote areas which are not normally delivered to by Good Elf you will be advised of any additional charges as soon as possible upon receipt of your order. Selected products are not available for delivery to certain areas - where possible we will advise you of these restrictions before you place your order.

Some products will be delivered via courier or postal services to UK mainland addresses. We will advise you of the first available delivery date for your chosen item when you place your order. Every effort will be made to deliver on your chosen date, the exact delivery date cannot be guaranteed.

Delivery can be made within 72 hours when placing your order before 3pm Monday to Friday. Courier/Postal deliveries may not be available for Scottish Highlands (and some Scottish Islands), Eire, Channel Islands, Scilly Isles, BFPO addresses & H.M. Prisons. Courier/Postal deliveries are not available for delivery at Weekends or bank holidays.

Good Elf guarantees the quality of product and service we provide to the customer. If you are not fully satisfied with the service or product received, please contact us within 2 days of taking delivery of your tree and we will investigate thoroughly. In the event of a genuine issue with the quality of the product we will happily replace the product.

However, our trees are real Christmas trees, a naturally grown product. Each and every one is unique. We will not exchange trees because a customer doesn’t like the shape of the tree. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Trees need to be looked after whilst in your care otherwise they will not be covered by the Product Guarantee. For the best results the trees should have a stand with a reservoir of clean fresh water that is replenished every day. Very warm environments will cause the tree to deteriorate. Under floor heating and air-conditioning will dry out the tree very quickly. These environments are not suitable for cut Christmas trees.

Real Christmas trees capture CO2 and they continue doing so even in your home. The Good Elf offers the most sustainable option for your Christmas tree selection. We are super keen on reducing the carbon footprint of our products as much as possible.

We only source trees from quality growers — growers with sustainable plantations and a solid environmentally friendly ethos. Every tree we sell wouldn’t have been planted in the first place if it wasn’t to be used as a fresh cut Christmas tree. That means a nine-year growing cycle of collecting carbon from the atmosphere. After your tree is harvested it is replaced with a new sapling to start the process again.

We use British grown Christmas trees to reduce our ‘tree miles’ — or Santa’s footprint as we like to think of it.
