Delivery from £5.95 on smaller packages. Next-day delivery available. For christmas trees Hitchin families trust, Good Elf brings the farm to your front room.
A fresh cut tree drinks well and holds its needles for weeks. Nothing sits in a cold store waiting for an order. That is the difference between a real Christmas tree that still looks good on Christmas Day and one that has dropped half its needles by week two.
Every tree comes from the same premium grade stock. We do not split our supply into budget and premium lines. You get the best we have. Finding the perfect tree should not mean a long drive, so we bring it to you. Twenty years of December rounds through Walsworth, Westmill and Oughtonhead stand behind every tree we send out.
Hitchin sits in our home county. Our own team delivers here, not a courier. If you are out, we find somewhere safe to leave your tree. Call us after 10am on the day on 0203 519 9997 and we will give you an estimated arrival time.
Choose Your Hitchin Christmas Tree
Shop Nordmann FirNordmann Fir
Our most popular tree. Soft needles, even shape, excellent needle retention. The Nordmann Fir holds its needles for weeks. You can sweep up after Christmas without finding piles on the floor. Full shape, no scent. Good for homes with children or pets.
Shop Norway SpruceNorway Spruce
The classic Christmas tree with a lovely scent. Needle drop is faster than the Nordmann so keep it watered from day one. Strong branches hold heavy decorations well. Lower price and a traditional look. The right choice if the scent matters to you.

Caring For Your Hitchin Christmas Tree
Take a fresh cut off the base before you stand the tree. About an inch is enough. This reopens the vessels that sealed during transport and lets the tree drink. Fill the stand with water on day one and top it up every day. A tree in a warm room can drink a litre a day.
Keep the tree away from radiators and direct sun. Heat dries a tree out fast. The slower it dries, the less needle drop you see. A fresh tree kept well can last six weeks. If yours goes up on the 1st of December, it should still look good on Christmas Day.
The Norway Spruce needs more water than the Nordmann. Check the stand every morning. If the base runs dry even for a day, the tree seals over and stops drinking. Once it stops drinking, needle drop speeds up. Top the water up before bed and again when you wake.
After Christmas, North Hertfordshire District Council collects real Christmas trees for recycling in January. You can set yours out for kerbside collection or drop it at the recycling point. Check the North Hertfordshire District Council website for your date. Remove all decorations and tinsel first. You can also compost a real tree at home if you have the space. It breaks down fast and feeds the soil for next year.
Hitchin at Christmas
Hitchin keeps a market town feel through December. The cobbled Market Place sits at the heart of it, with St Mary's Church close by and small shops lining the lanes. The Sunday and weekly markets draw people in from across North Hertfordshire. A real tree at home rounds it off.
Christmas Lights Switch-On
The Hitchin Christmas lights switch-on fills the Market Place in late November. Acts take the stage through the day, then Santa's parade leads into the switch-on at dusk. The grand Christmas tree stands at the centre of the square once the lights come on.
Hitchin Christmas Tree Festival
The Hitchin Christmas Tree Festival runs in mid-December at Holy Saviour Church. Around fifty decorated trees fill the church, each one done by a local group, business or school. Family activities run alongside and Santa drops in too.
Carols at the Market Place
A carols evening takes place at the Market Place in the week before Christmas, with singing under the lights. Churches across Hitchin hold their own carol services in the run-up to the day.
